What is JSC "Sadales tīkls"?

JSC "Sadales tīkls" is an electricity distribution system operator that ensures the supply of electricity from the transmission system to customers.

How is the price of electricity formed?

The total price of electricity consists of four items:

  1. The price of electricity depends on the type of selected tariff - for what price electricity is purchased from a merchant;
  2. JSC "Sadales tīkls" set fee for transmission and distribution services;
  3. The Mandatory Procurement Component (OIK), determined and regulated by the state;
  4. Value added tax (VAT) in the amount of 21%, determined and regulated by the state.
Fixed price

This offer will be attractive to those who want to plan costs and know how much they will have to pay for electricity in the future. The fee is calculated according to the fixed rate specified in the agreement and does not depend on fluctuations in the market price.

Market price

This plan will be attractive to customers who are willing to take risks and obtain the best possible price for electricity in the relevant market conditions. In this case, the price of electricity consists of two components: a variable part, which depends on the price of electricity on the Nord Pool exchange, and a small fixed component - the supplier’s profit.

Fixed price in the Finnish region

The fixed price in the Finnish region is 85% fixed and 15% variable. The final price is calculated based on two factors - the fixed rate specified in the agreement and the transmission fee from Finland to Latvia. The transmission fee is determined by the difference between the price of the Finnish electricity exchange and the price of the Latvian electricity exchange. Over the last 4 years, this transmission fee averages 0.00314 cents per KWh per month.
