The average electricity price in September was 84.19 EUR/MWh, which is 4.98% higher than in August. Compared to September of the previous year, the price level remained virtually unchanged – the price was 84.09 EUR/MWh in September 2024.
Until September 24th, the interconnector between Finland and Estonia, ESTLINK 1, was unavailable, which reduced the possibilities for importing electricity from Finland.
September began with a higher price level due to limitations in interconnector availability and limited production capacity, as well as the low level of hydro resources in Scandinavia. The price level decreased in the second half of September thanks to better interconnector availability and higher wind farm generation.
