This year the number of electric car charging points installed at Hesburger restaurants by Ignitis Latvia will reach 50

Smart energy solutions company Ignitis Latvia, in cooperation with Hesburger, the largest fast food restaurant chain in Finland and the Baltics, plans to install a total of more than 50 electric car charging points this year. More than 30 Ignitis ON electric car charging points are currently operating at Hesburger restaurants across Latvia, with at least 20 more charging points to be opened by the end of the summer.

"After evaluating the positive cooperation with the fast food restaurant chain Hesburger thus far, this year we plan to expand our cooperation and significantly increase the number of Ignitis ON fast charging stations both in Riga and elsewhere in Latvia. Following the habits of electric vehicle drivers, high-capacity charging stations are being installed in the Hesburger network so that fast food restaurant guests can both dine and quickly charge their electric cars. Strengthening and expanding this cooperation allows us to move towards Ignitis ON's charging network development goal of creating the most powerful network coverage of electric car charging stations in the Baltics,” says Arturs Svekris, Head of the Electric Car Charging Network at Ignitis Latvia.

"As habits change, people are more frequently opting for amenities that combine green mobility with the possibility to enjoy delicious and quick meals. The introduction of electric car charging stations aligns with Hesburger's sustainability goals, and in cooperation with Ignitis Latvia we can offer customers convenient and multifunctional services, allowing them to combine a meal with electric car charging. This is an added convenience that meets today's customer demands for integrated solutions and the ability to receive multiple services in one place," points out Ieva Salmela, Hesburger International Development and Marketing Director.

The first Ignitis ON electric car fast charging stations were already opened last year near Hesburger restaurants in Riga. The number of charging points have been gradually expanded and now stands at more than 30.  By the end of the summer, the number of Ignitis ON ultra-fast charging points in the Hesburger restaurant network will exceed 50. At each location, several fast chargers are being installed with power outputs ranging from 200 kW to 350 kW, allowing electric cars to be charged in a very short period of time.

Ignitis Latvia cooperates with leading European manufacturers of electric car charging equipment to develop user-friendly and safe electric car charging stations. Ignitis On electric car charging stations are specially equipped to be easily accessible to all customers, including people with reduced mobility. Access infrastructure is being improved for additional safety.

Currently, there are nearly 75 Ignitis ON charging points across Latvia, both in Riga and in the regions. It has already been announced that Ignitis Group will invest more than €115 million over three to five years to develop an electric car fast charging network in the Baltics. The company's goal is to create the most comprehensive fast charging highway connecting the Baltic States with Poland and the Scandinavian region. Most of the charging points will be high-capacity charging points, with capacities starting from 150 kW.
